Woodforde's Route to 1966 brings together Norfolk brewing, British hops and the excitement of England's World Cup campaign
Setchey, Norfolk – July 2026: Football supporters can raise a glass to England's journey through the 2026 World Cup with Woodforde's Route to 1966, a football-inspired session pale ale now available from Beers of Europe.
Brewed by Woodforde's Brewery in Woodbastwick, Norfolk, Route to 1966 takes its name from England's legendary football triumph and has been created to accompany the excitement of this summer's tournament.
At 3.4% ABV, the Norfolk-brewed pale ale offers a lower-strength choice for football fans looking for a beer they can enjoy throughout the match.
This straw-coloured Session Pale is built from a winning blend of malts, led by Chevallier heritage malt — a true legend of the grain game. Teamed up with a line-up of British and Slovenian hops, plus a burst of lemon and orange zest, it delivers a performance worthy of the Three Lions. Expect marmalade maltiness, floral footwork, and a sharp grapefruit finish that hits the back of the net. An exhilarating beer crafted to lift the squad - and the crowd - all the way to 2026 glory.
Its distinctive football-themed presentation celebrates the Three Lions, while the beer itself remains firmly rooted in Woodforde's long-standing Norfolk brewing heritage.
Amanda Waterfield, Marketing Manager at Beers of Europe, said:
"Route to 1966 is the perfect beer for England supporters who want something brewed to enjoy during the World Cup."
"It brings together two things people feel incredibly passionate about: great British beer and football. The 3.4% strength also makes it an ideal matchday choice, while the British hops and citrus zest give it plenty of flavour."
"With Woodforde's Brewery and Beers of Europe both based in Norfolk, we are particularly proud to be offering this beer to football fans across the country."
Brewed in the heart of the Norfolk Broads
Woodforde's Brewery has been producing beer in Norfolk since 1981 and is based in Woodbastwick, within the Norfolk Broads.
The brewery has become known for beers that celebrate the landscape and character of its home county, describing its range as the "Taste of Norfolk".
Route to 1966 continues this tradition while capturing the excitement surrounding England's latest pursuit of international football glory.
The beer's name recalls the summer when England lifted football's greatest prize on home soil. Sixty years later, Route to 1966 gives supporters another reason to gather together, fill the fridge and raise a glass before kick-off.
A Norfolk beer for England matchday
Route to 1966 can be enjoyed alongside classic matchday food, including burgers, pizza, sausages, fish and chips and pork pies.
Its citrus flavours complement richer dishes, while its malt character pairs naturally with savoury foods and barbecue favourites.
The beer is available in 500ml bottles from Beers of Europe in Setchey, near King's Lynn, and can also be ordered online for delivery across the UK.
Amanda added:
"England matches create a real sense of occasion, with friends and families coming together to watch every goal, tackle and dramatic moment."
"Route to 1966 has been made for those occasions. It is a characterful British pale ale with a memorable name, a strong Norfolk connection and a clear link to England's greatest footballing achievement."
