Now Open – the Ragged Robin, Godalming Heartwood Inns’ Sixth Pub With Rooms

Award-winning Heartwood Inns today opened The Ragged Robin in Godalming, its sixth pub with rooms, continuing its ambitious plans to grow its offering to more than 400 rooms by 2027.

Formerly known as The Manor Inn, the pub traded under the Beefeater and Premier Inn Brands but has now been renamed The Ragged Robin as a nod to the varied flora and fauna that can be found in the meadows surrounding the pub.

Located on the outskirts of the historic market town of Godalming, Surrey and backing on to the River Wey, The Ragged Robin has undergone a sympathetic multi-million pound refurbishment that has infused it with Heartwood’s warm and welcoming style.

The bar oozes charm with cosy nooks, fireplaces and spaces where guests can enjoy Heartwood’s carefully curated drinks list. Local beers from breweries, Surrey Hills and Hogsback are available.

The dining room has also been extended with the creation of a light and airy garden room overlooking a transformed garden. With 213 internal seats, the bar and dining room offers a space for every occasion. The Ragged Robin’s seasonally changing menu has been created in line with Heartwood’s three star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association, the highest rating possible.

Outside, the large garden has been landscaped with the new terrace and pergolas taking advantage of views of the river and the meadows. The garden has space for a further 124 covers and is served by its own dedicated bar. Guests visiting The Ragged Robin will also be able to access the pub from the garden via its own mooring that leads directly onto the River Way.

The pub has 19 boutique bedrooms that have been extensively refurbished. They range from cosy ‘Snugs’ to ‘Really Fancy’ rooms with several boasting free-standing baths. Guests staying at the pub will be welcomed with Heartwood’s signature touches including rainfall showers, Roberts radios, Bramley toiletries, Illy coffee machines and more. With family rooms, dog-friendly spaces and a dog shower amongst other amenities, the pub is well placed for guests visiting Godalming, Guildford and the Surrey Hills.

Richard Ferrier, CEO of Heartwood Collection, said:

"We are delighted to be opening The Ragged Robin and to have brought this beautiful building back to life. We have been huge admirers of Godalming for many years and to have this beautiful ‘pub with rooms’ now open is incredibly satisfying.”
