Orbit Beers x 4AD Records Launch a Modern Vienna Lager for Brixton Pop-Up and Live Performances

South London brewery Orbit Beers has teamed up with iconic British independent record label 4AD to launch a special collaboration Vienna Lager. This limited-edition beer was brewed to celebrate 4AD’s April pop-up store Enclosed in Amber in Brixton Village and performances from Dry Cleaning and Big Thief at London’s Brixton Academy from 22nd–26th April.

Orbit Beers has long supported independent music labels, collaborating with 4AD in previous years to brew a beer with Pixies, and more recently supporting events for both Beggars Group and Ninja Tune Records. The brewery’s Pale Ale, IVO, is named after 4AD founder Ivo Watts-Russell, whose vision helped define one of Britain’s most influential independent labels.

The artwork for the bottle labels, the pop-up store, and the tap badges was created by London graphic artist Ciaran Birch.

The Beer

This latest collaboration sees Orbit Beers reimagine the classic Vienna Lager style, exploring new flavour possibilities through contemporary yeast strains and expressive hopping.

Built on a base of Vienna malt, the beer opens with notes of toasted malt, biscuits, and light caramel. Fermentation with SafLager™ SH-45 lager yeast enhances the fruit-forward hop character from Cascade and Hallertau Blanc.

This yeast strain possesses the capability to release and esterify thiols. As a result, you can expect vinous aromas of citrus and white grape from the hops, layered over the gentle malt sweetness. The finish is clean, crisp, and pleasantly bitter, keeping the beer refreshing alongside its expressive aroma.

In true Orbit Beers style, this collaboration beer is a modern take on brewing tradition and a celebration of independence and creativity.
