Pontefract Community Pub Completes Transformational £165,000 Refurbishment

Popular community pub, the Church House on Barnsley Road in Pontefract has completed a transformational refurbishment following a combined investment of £165,000 from experienced licensee, Dean Lyth and Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading community pub company.


This refurbishment will breathe a new lease of life into the Church House to elevate and modernise the overall look and feel of the pub, whilst still retaining its traditional character and ultimately enabling the licensee to further cement it as the go-to community hub for local residents.


Internally, the pub’s games room has been extended. In addition to this, the overall interior of the pub has been refreshed to include new fixtures, fittings, furniture and decor throughout to elevate the Church House’s atmosphere and further expand its offering to ensure it welcomes everyone and caters to all tastes.


Externally, the Church House has been completely revamped to include a new beer garden and dedicated sports viewing area, both complete with new heating and lighting so that customers can enjoy the space all year round. In addition to this, a new outdoor bar has been installed which will help improve service efficiency during busy sporting events and peak times.


Passionate licensee, Dean Lyth, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the pub having worked in the pub trade for many years. Going forward he is committed to creating a family-friendly hub that brings people together and supports all aspects of community life.


Dean Lyth, licensee at the Church House, commented: “It has been absolutely fantastic to see this refurbishment come to life and the finished product is incredible. Going forward, Dean will be hosting a busy schedule of regular entertainment for the community to enjoy including DJs, live bands and karaoke every week from Thursday through to Sunday. In addition, as part of his mission to giving back to the local community, they will also be supporting a range of charities and running fundraising events for local good causes.


Following the refurbishment, the pub will host an impressive range of drinks including an extensive portfolio of cask ales, premium draught lagers and ciders such as Moretti, Orchard Pig, and the newly launched Flavourware.


The Church House will also continue to offer a delicious food menu which is all freshly prepared and cooked on site. The menu consists of traditional pub favourites such as burgers, pies, and fish and chips. In addition to the daily menu the pub will also offer a carvery every Sunday.


The pub is owned by Admiral Taverns, the UK’s leading community pub company with c. 1,350 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.
