Over the last month the team at Lost and Grounded Brewers been working on the evolution of our mega-cult favourite Running with Sceptres. There’s been no beer that has evolved more in its time than “Sceptres”, originally launched as an amber, malt-driven Vienna-style Lager that was dryhopped with Mosaic and Chinook, and described as Special Lager Beer. Fast forward a few years and the brewing team have continually refined the beer, gradually reducing the colour and malt heaviness to where it is now, and with every change the beer became more and more enjoyable. Rebadged as an India Pale Lager some years back, the beer pushed forward and carved its own path.
Over the last year conversations swayed to how it’s so close to a West Coast-style IPA, that maybe we should take a leap of faith and take a journey to the final frontier…
The base beer remains the same - clean, with subtle malt character, with bitter resinous hops and peachy-piney-deliciousness from a trio of Citra, Mosaic and Chinook. The fermentation with ale yeast has helped the hops shine even more.
“Are we excited? YES! Are we proud of the evolution? YES, and we can’t wait to share it all with you. Not even an opposition from the Portman Group over Sceptre’s labelling in 2019 stopped this little beer, and now it’s ready to hit the ground running.” – Alex Troncoso, Co-Founder.
