Shepherd Neame Hosts Exclusive Thai Dining Experience With Masterchef Champion Chariya Khattiyot to Celebrate Launch of New Pad Thai Dish

ree

Independent family brewer and pub company Shepherd Neame hosted an exclusive Thai dining event with Chef Chariya Khattiyot, MasterChef UK 2023 Champion, at its London riverside pub, The Samuel Pepys on Thursday (November 6).

More than 30 guests attended the event, enjoying a bespoke three-course menu curated by Chef Chariya to showcase the vibrant flavours of her Northern Thai heritage. Dishes included Chicken Satay Skewers with pickled Thai salad served on banana leaves; King Prawn Pad Thai with fresh lime and roasted nuts; and a delicate Thai Milk Tea Crème Brûlée with Honey Sablé Biscuit.

The menu was paired with Singha, The Original Thai Beer, which has been brewed under licence in the UK by Shepherd Neame since 2022.

Throughout the evening, Chef Chariya introduced each course and shared the personal stories behind her dishes. Guests also had the opportunity to have copies of her new cookbook, Lanna: A Celebration of Authentic Thai Cuisine with Chef Chariya Khattiyot, personally signed.

The event marked the launch of Shepherd Neame’s new Pad Thai dish, which was introduced at selected pubs across Kent, London and the South East to coincide with National Pad Thai Day on Friday (November 7).

Claire Young, Head of Singha Beer UK at Shepherd Neame, said: “Chef Chariya embodies authenticity and passion, and we were delighted to collaborate with her for this special evening. Our partnership with Singha Beer continues to introduce genuine Thai flavours to new audiences, pairing world-class beer with dishes that truly capture the essence of Thai cuisine.”

Chef Chariya said: “Pad Thai isn’t just a dish - it represents the heart of Thai street food, and I am so pleased that Shepherd Neame is launching the dish across its pubs, as it beautifully blends two cultures. It is also a perfect pairing with Singha Beer, as its crisp, balanced taste refreshes the palate, letting each ingredient shine. Growing up in Thailand, Singha was the beer I grew up seeing everywhere, and it was always part of celebrations with family and friends. Its golden lion logo symbolises power and pride in Thai culture and I feel incredibly proud to collaborate with Shepherd Neame on this promotion with Singha Beer, creating a special bridge between my roots and my home here now in the UK.”

To celebrate the launch, Shepherd Neame is offering its new Pad Thai and a pint of Singha Beer for just £20 at selected sites on every Friday throughout November*.
