Sparkling Hopwater Hits M&S

Siren Craft Brew's Sparkling Hopwater has landed in M&S stores, creating a brand new category in the UK market.

As consumers look to low and no alcohol options, Sparkling Hopwater serves a growing market of conscientious drinkers, coming in at 0%, Zero Calories and Zero Sugar.

A $13 million market in the US as of 2022, Hopwater was first sold in 2014 in the States and has become a growth area in the drinks industry.

In September 2023, Siren Craft Brew's head brewer Sean Knight and founder Darron Anley went out to the hop harvest in Oregon, US, and found a buzz around hop waters from other brewers and growers.

A growing enthusiasm from hop suppliers to diversify the kind of drinks hops were used in led to Siren launching its own brand in the UK in 2024, producing Nelson Sauvin, Citra and Idaho versions of Hopwater.

Two varieties are currently available: Krush in 440ml cans in nearly 200 M&S stores nationwide and Citra currently in stock direct from Siren Craft Brew online and in venues. Nelson Sauvin will be available soon online and in venues.

Andy Nowlan, Commercial Director at Siren Craft Brew commented:

Hopwater is still a relatively unknown quantity in the UK. It’s a niche within a niche. A crisp, refreshing secret that doesn’t really exist as a mainstream category, until now.

It is already a staple in our bars and has become an important product in the Siren range.

We would like to give a massive thanks to M&S for taking a punt on a new listing based entirely on how good it is to drink. That takes trust and ambition, and we’re massively honoured to see it on the shelf from today in 179 stores.

Krush is one of our favourite varieties for Hopwater. You get a sweet fruit note without a hint of anything being artificial. It’s effervescent, incredibly clean and always hits the spot.
