The Pineapple on Blackburn Road in Bolton officially reopened last Thursday 30th October following a transformational investment of more than £265,000. The pub is part of Proper Pubs, the award-winning community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns, which operates more than 220 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.
Inside, The Pineapple has been transformed to breathe a new lease of life into the pub and create a more welcoming, spacious area where customers can come together. The investment has resulted in a complete internal redecoration with brand new fixtures, fittings, furniture and flooring throughout as well as an enhanced audio-visual system complete with new speakers and four state-of-the-art televisions featuring Sky Sports, TNT and horse racing channels. Whilst the main bar area continues to cater to all guests, whether they’re looking to watch live sports or enjoy a drink with family and friends, The Pineapple now boasts a dedicated games zone boasting two dart boards and a pool table for those looking for a bit of friendly competition.
Outside, visitors are greeted by brand new lighting and signage, as well as two refreshed outdoor areas that seat approximately 50 people, with one hosting an updated covered area that can be used all year round.
The Pineapple celebrated its reopening with a complimentary fizz and nibbles reception on Thursday 30th October which was followed by a weekend full of fantastic entertainment including a live performance from local artist, Rachel Crowe, a set from DJ Denon and an afternoon of quizzes on Sunday.
The Pineapple offers a wide range of drinks promotions, including Wine Wednesday, where customers can get £2 off a bottle, Fizz Friday, offering customers a bottle of fizz for £10, along with cocktails, bottle and shot deals throughout the week.
Jamie Kirby, Operator of The Pineapple, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have reopened The Pineapple and it’s been wonderful welcoming everyone back to see the transformation. This pub means so much to me and I’m very grateful that with the investment we’ve been able to build on everything we’ve achieved here over the last nine years. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Proper Pubs team for all their support throughout this journey and I look forward to everything that the future holds.”
In addition to the fantastic drinks selection, The Pineapple will host regular entertainment to bring the community together including regular darts evenings for the local teams, karaoke every Friday evening, Sunday quiz nights and monthly live music on a Saturday evening. As a passionate, community-minded individual, Jamie will also be collecting food for the local foodbank and hopes to host fundraising events for Asthma Awareness, a cause extremely close to her heart.
Matthew Gurney, Operations Director for Proper Pubs, said: “It’s fantastic to see our vision for The Pineapple brought to life and I’m confident this investment will give Jamie everything she needs to further cement the pub at the heart of the community. It’s truly a delight having her onboard and I’m thrilled to see the pub buzzing once again. On behalf of myself and the whole team at Proper Pubs, I’d like to thank Jamie for all her hard work to date and we wish her the very best moving forward.”
Proper Pubs is always looking for ways to support its communities through an annual schedule of events and fundraising initiatives and in March 2024, it was crowned Community Pub Operator at the Publican Awards. Most recently, the Group collected over 20,000 Easter Eggs to donate to communities in need and raised nearly £100,000 in just three months for various local charities across the UK. Last year, Proper Pubs also successfully donated enough food to local foodbanks across the UK to feed 1,300 people for a week and has also been recognised for its UK-wide defibrillator installation campaign which has already saved 11 lives.
Currently, operators across Proper Pubs’ estate are collecting as many selection boxes as possible to donate to local charities and communities in need this Christmas, as well as fundraising for Admiral Taverns’ charity partner, Claire House Hospice.
