I’m pleased to share the NCTJ’s autumn training schedule, with a range of masterclasses and workshops for journalists and communications professionals, as well as options for bespoke team and leadership development.
Upcoming masterclasses and workshops
Journalism to PR: 16 September - PR is about much more than writing press releases. Get a complete picture of the skills and attributes required to make the move from journalism to PR.
Editing skills lunch and learn series: 14-18 September - Join individual sessions or the full series covering proofreading, style, simplifying copy, structure and common grammar pitfalls.
Media law masterclass: 6 October - Ask an expert trainer your questions and strengthen your understanding of media law.
Data journalism masterclass: 14 October- A highly interactive session on data journalism and using FOI’s as story sources to find compelling stories.
Introduction to podcasting masterclass: 17 October - Get practical tips to help turn your podcast idea into reality.
Feature writing: 20 October- Learn how to develop engaging long-form content
Developing interviewing skills lunch and learn: 21 October- Improve one of the most important skills in any journalist's toolkit.
Editing skills series: 19 - 22 October- Join individual sessions or the full series covering proofreading, structure, clarity, SEO and more

Training for your team
If you’re planning your team’s development for the months ahead, the NCTJ can also provide bespoke training tailored to your organisation.
Recent sessions have covered media law, editing skills, interviewing skills and duty editor training. We can tailor group sessions to the needs and experience of your team, using scenarios relevant to your organisation.

Leadership development
If you’re looking to develop current or aspiring leaders in your organisation, you may also be interested in the NCTJ leadership course here.
The course is made up of a series of modules, so participants can study individual modules to develop specific leadership skills or complete the full course to earn a level 7 qualification.
