Timothy Taylor’s Celebrates 10th Beer Day Britain at The White Swan at Fence

Beer Day Britain is the UK’s national beer day held annually on 15th June. In honour of the event, Timothy Taylor’s teamed up with Michelin-starred village pub The White Swan at Fence to host a memorable evening celebrating Britain’s national drink. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the pairing event at The White Swan, which took place on Wednesday 18th June.

The White Swan is proudly part of the Timothy Taylor’s pub family. Gareth Ostick, who runs the pub, has helped establish The White Swan as a destination for beer and food lovers alike, while keeping its warm, village pub charm firmly intact.

This year’s milestone celebration was made even more special, welcoming Andrew Carter, Timothy Taylor’s newly appointed CEO, to his first Beer Day Britain with the brewery. “It’s a real privilege to celebrate this event in such a special place,” said Andrew. “The White Swan is a shining example of what makes a British pub truly great, outstanding beer, phenomenal food, and a genuine sense of community.”

The evening was hosted by beer sommelier Annabel Smith, who led a packed house through a brilliant beer and food pairing experience. Annabel brought her expertise to the evening, sharing insights into the heritage and characteristics of each beer while guiding guests through the pairings.

Guests enjoyed a lineup of Timothy Taylor’s cask beers, including the classic Landlord, Boltmaker, and Hopical Storm Session IPA served on keg. Each course of the feast was designed to match one of Timothy Taylor’s outstanding beers, crafted by award-winning chef Tom Parker.

As Timothy Taylor’s continues to brew beer of uncompromising quality, Beer Day Britain remains a key date in the calendar, a celebration of brewing and the pub as the heart of the community. Here’s to 10 years of Beer Day Britain at The White Swan and to many more to come.

Ends.

Beer Day Britain

Beer Day Britain is an annual celebration on June 15th for all beer lovers and it celebrates all beer including traditional ales, mainstream lagers, and limited edition craft beer and everything in between no matter where it is brewed or who owns the brewing company.

June 15th is significant because that is also the date Magna Carta was sealed in 1215. The great charter mentions ale in Article 35.

‘Let there be throughout our kingdom a single measure for wine and a single measure for ale and a single measure for corn…..’

Ale was so important in England in 1215 that it was cited in one of the most significant legal documents in history.  Today beer and pubs are still central to British life and seven out of 10 drinks sold in a pub are beer.

Britain has a dynamic brewing scene and an unmatched heritage in spreading the love and knowledge of beer around the world.  More styles of beer first brewed in Britain are now brewed overseas than those of any other brewing nation. These include India Pale Ale, Pale Ale, Porter, Stout, Imperial Russian Stout, Mild, Bitter, Barley Wine, Brown Ale, and Scotch Ale.
