Welsh Beer and Pub Association's responds to Welsh DRS regs pass through the Senedd

Emma McClarkin, CEO of the Welsh Beer and Pub Association, said: "This is a significant milestone for introducing a deposit return scheme in Wales, especially as it keeps delivery on track with the rest-of-UK scheme.

We encourage the Welsh Government to build on this by swiftly appointing a deposit management organisation. In order to prevent fees being prohibitive for brewers selling beer in glass bottles in Wales, this organisation must be given the remit to take a pragmatic approach to its management of glass containers.

"A fully interoperable scheme remains the best way of delivering a DRS that works for both Welsh consumers and local businesses. We urge all parties to support removing glass from the scheme following the return of the Senedd in May.”
