Wetherspoon to host beer festival including five international beers

A range of up to 30 cask ales, including five from international brewers, will be available at Wetherspoon pubs during a 12-day beer festival.

The pubs will host the festival from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 18 October inclusive.

The overseas brewers are from China, Singapore, Ukraine, USA and Denmark

It is the first time the pub has served a cask ale from Singapore and Ukraine.

Most of the beers on offer have been brewed for the first time, exclusively for the festival.

Among the festival collection are five vegan (also suitable for vegetarians) beers.

As well as featuring a range of different malt and hop varieties from around the world, there are also beers that include coconut, coriander, mango and tea in their ingredients.

The international beers are Urbrew Oolong ESB (China), Mikkeller English Dream Pilsner (Denmark), Lion Mango IPA (Singapore), Varvar Session Golden Ale (Ukraine), UPP Liquids Pinball Wizard (USA).

The festival line up also includes Cairngorm Autumn Nuts, Otter Reggae, Loch Lomond Flying South, Oakham Dressed To Impress, Exmoor Red.

Wetherspoon chairman Tim Martin said: “The festival is a great celebration of cask ale.

“It will allow our pubs to showcase a selection of superb beers, featuring many beers not previously available to our customers in the pub, including those from brewers as far afield as China and Ukraine, as well as those closer to home, over a 12-day period.

“All of the beers will be available at great value-for-money prices.”

Three third-of-a-pint tasters will also be available for the price of a pint.

Tasting notes on all of the beers will be available in the pub as part of the festival magazine (a digital version will also be available on the Wetherspoon app and website).

All ales will be available to order at the bar or via the Wetherspoon app.
