Woodforde's celebrates triple international award win

A multi-award-winning brewery has added three more trophies to its cabinet after its beers proved popular at an international competition.

Woodforde's Brewery took home three awards at this year's Great Taste Awards, the world's largest food and drink competition.

The three winners included classic dark ale Nog, one of the brewery's two Supreme Champion Beers of Britain, alongside newer additions in Woodforde's Hazy IPA and Woodforde's 0.5 – the brewery's first-ever low alcohol offering.

Bruce Ash, Brewing Manager at the Norfolk brewery, said: “We are delighted to take home three awards from this year's competition.

“We were up against fellow breweries from around the world, so it's great to see the judges are keen on the Taste of Norfolk.

“It's also nice to see the array of beers taking home a trophy – you've got a classic cask ale in Nog, a more modern and flavour-packed craft beer in Woodforde's Hazy IPA and a low alcohol alternative in Woodforde's 0.5.

“We want fans of all styles to find their perfect pint from Woodforde's, so receiving awards for three very different beers is a sign we're doing things right.”

Each received one star at this year's awards and join previous winners Woodforde's Pilsner and Nelson's Revenge from 2025.

Judges said Wooforde's 0.5 was “an attractive golden IPA” which would be a “steady sipper on a hot summer's day”, while they said Woodforde's Hazy IPA is a “very refreshing beer” that is “incredibly enjoyable”.

They added Nog was “well balanced and enjoyable with a rounded finish” and had a “pronounced nose of treacle, dark fruit and a touch of biscuit”.

Nog can be found on cask in many pubs across Norfolk alongside Woodforde's Hazy IPA on keg, while Woodforde's 0.5 is commonly available in bottles.

Each of the beers are also available to buy online from the Woodforde's store at www.woodfordes.com

Notes to editors

The full judges comments can be found below:

Woodforde's 0.5:

An attractive golden IPA with an inviting aroma of pine, citrus and spice. The judges found it pleasingly mouth coating, with a deliciously crisp, clean after taste. The flavour of the hops was very well balanced with the lightly toasted notes of the malt. The judges found it reminiscent of Christmas wreath making, with the aroma of pine, dried orange and cinnamon.

A deep golden colour and a very pine-led and tropical nose. With a good flavour of tropical fruit and a long lasting hop-bitterness on the finish, this has decent body and would be a steady sipper on a hot summer's day.

Woodforde's Hazy IPA:

This looks and smells as we would expect and it is well conditioned. It is crisp and smooth and not overly bitter but lingers long in the mouth. It is a good example of its kind.

This lovely straw-coloured liquid delivers a gentle hoppy aroma and a very clean taste on the palate. The citrus flavours from Citra and El Dorado shine through. This a very refreshing beer and a well made example of its type that was incredibly enjoyable.

Nog:

Dark amber red beer with a pronounced nose of treacle, dark fruit and a touch of biscuit. A medium weight body with a pronounced fruity taste and a nice treacle/burnt molasses bitterness on the finish. Quite light, which makes it very drinkable for the style. Well balanced and enjoyable with a rounded finish.
