CULT breweries from around the world are set to descend on Scotland’s capital next month as Big Swally Edinburgh returns for its second year.
The Big Swally Edinburgh will take place on Saturday 25 October at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. The craft beer festival has already sold out its day session as beer fans queue up to taste brews from as far afield as the USA, Greece and Scandinavia. Currently, only limited tickets for the evening session (6pm to 10.30pm) remain.
Run in partnership by Caledonian Craft Beer Merchant and Edinburgh’s own Vault City Brewing, the festival has quickly become one of the most anticipated dates in the beer calendar. The team has been hard at work to meet demand after the festival launched to the ticket website crashing on release day.
This year the line-up is bigger than ever. Vault City, Track Brewing Co, The Kernel, Northern Monk and Rivington Brew Co are flying the flag for the UK’s beer scene, while Finback Brewery, Long Live Beerworks and Grimm Artisanal Ales travel from the United States. Europe will be represented by Garage Beer Co from Barcelona, Brewski from Sweden, Amundsen Brewery from Norway, Seven Island Brewery from Corfu, Sudden Death Brewing Co from Lübeck and Ārpus Brewing Co from Latvia.
Colin Gardner of The Caledonian Craft Beer Merchant said: “The Big Swally started in Dunfermline as a way to showcase great beer and bring people together and it has grown beyond anything we imagined.
“Last year’s atmosphere was incredible and to see the day session sell out so quickly again shows just how much people want to be part of it. The beer community is very special – likeminded independent breweries just want to help each other and it’s amazing to see. We are looking forward to welcoming breweries and beer lovers from all over the world back to Edinburgh. The response from breweries around the world has been phenomenal – there’s really no other beer gathering like this. ”
Vault City, known for pushing boundaries with bold and experimental sours, will once again use the festival to launch a brand new Raspberry and Vanilla sour available exclusively to ticket holders.
Festival goers can also expect a strong line up of Edinburgh street food traders including @antotitostruck, @fredsbackyardbarbecue and @bia_edinburgh ensuring no one goes hungry between pours.
Tickets are priced at £17.50 and include entry, a branded festival glass, a free first pour of an event exclusive beer and automatic entry into prize draws for beer and merchandise.
