CAMRA National AGM & Members’ Weekend in Norwich

AGM Logo.jpgFinal preparations are under way for the National AGM and Members’ Weekend of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) which takes place in Norwich this weekend (19th to 21st April) at St Andrew’s Hall.

Members of CAMRA, mainly from the Norwich & Norfolk branch, will start setting up the Halls on Tuesday, including the Members’ Bar in Blackfriars’ Hall. The weekend has already broken the record for the number of pre-registered Members with 1357 Members signing up to attend the event in Norwich, with more Members likely to attend by registering on the door.

The weekend really looks set to truly put Norwich on the real ale, cider and perry map and will surely be a welcome boost to the Norfolk economy. All the Norfolk brewery and cider tours which have been arranged by the local branch are now fully booked. Norwich pubs are also gearing up for an invasion of customers, arranging for extra supplies, opening longer hours and some are even putting on a mini-beer festival. Although the weekend is just good timing for The Cottage pub on Silver Road; Sally Mann the landlady said ”We are looking forward to welcoming CAMRA members from all over the country, particularly as it coincides with our (4th) annual beer festival, which this year is entitled “George’s Fest goes fourth”.

For more information and copies of the six pub trails that have been compiled to help guide visitors to over 50 of Norwich’s pubs, please see the local AGM website: http://www.agmnorwich2013.org.uk

CAMRA is an independent, voluntary organisation campaigning for real ale, community pubs and consumer rights and the Members’ Weekend and AGM is where CAMRA members discuss the future policy and direction of the organisation.
