Paid opportunities to get involved with Women On Tap Festival

As the WOT team gear up for another year after securing funding through a sponsorship campaign, two key announcements have been made.

Freelance roles

Firstly, two paid roles have been created for freelancers to support the directors with the organisation, delivery and marketing of the 2021 event.

The roles are ‘Festival Coordinator’ – a 6-week freelance contract for casual hours spread across the weeks leading up to and the festival itself – and a ‘Digital Assistant’ a 4 week freelance contract to support the digital event admin and social media activity via casual hours.

Please see www.womenontap.co.uk/#festival2021/opportunities for full details and information on how to apply. Deadline is 23rd April.

Creative commissions

Secondly, the festival directors are looking to commission five creative pieces of work to launch and showcase as part of the 2021 festival programme. Proposals are now invited as responses to one of four key themes:

  • Women in lockdown

  • Beer: More than just a drink

  • A vision of equality

  • What is a pub?

A fee of £300 will be paid for each of the chosen commissions, which may be an article, podcast, poem, piece of music, photography, illustration, painting, short film, or something else entirely.

For full details see www.womenontap.co.uk/#festival2021/creative-commissions. Deadline for proposals: 24th April.

Founder Rachel Auty feels the opening up of paid opportunities is an important part of what WOT does: “We’ve relied on lots of goodwill over the years, particularly in 2020 when more than 40 women came together voluntarily to deliver a virtual event that really mattered to everyone who was involved in some way. Going forward, we are committed to opening up paid opportunities through our work. Ensuring we are in a position to pay the women we work with for their time and skill is a vital part of not only tackling equality issues, but also of Women On Tap CIC becoming a sustainable company that can continue to deliver on its equality purpose.”

Applications and proposals are actively encouraged from those from groups currently underrepresented in the beer industry.
