What you can offer as a writer/beer lover?
I’m currently in charge of beer and wine at Imbibe Magazine. I am also an award-winning writer, international wine & beer judge, and Director of the British Guild of Beer Writers.
I have worked extensively in hospitality as a sommelier, my last Head Sommelier position being at THE PIG Hotel in Brockenhurst (Limewood Group). I developed my expertise by writing for magazines, tutoring tastings and organising events. Besides my involvement in the beverage sector, I am also a musicologist. I was awarded BA and MA at the University of Bologna (Italy) and the PhD at the University of Southampton (2016).
What do you like most about being a Guild of Beer Writers member?
I’ve spent my entire life immersed in the captivating worlds of beer and wine, but it was only after I completed my PhD in Musicology that I decided to embrace the drinks industry full-time.
Throughout the years I’ve worked across different areas of the industry – including hospitality as a Head Sommelier, educator, market researcher. This mosaic of experiences is hugely beneficial to my work as a drinks journalist and consultant.
Although interested in all things fermented and distilled, my main expertise lies in wine and beer. I judge a number of international wine and beer competitions and I am Director of the British Guild of Beer Writers.
Before my move to freelancing, I was typing about wine, beer and spirits at Imbibe, the UK’s leading magazine for the on-trade drinks industry.
