A NEW LOOK FOR THE HARE AND HOUNDS

Thwaites logoTodmorden pub, the Hare and Hounds, is set to unveil its new look establishment, this weekend, after undergoing a £150k refurbishment in partnership with award-winning Lancashire brewer, Daniel Thwaites.

In a bid to create a more modern, family atmosphere within the pub, Thwaites, along with new licensees, Tiffanie and Richard Carlton, have overseen extensive repairs and improvements to both the interior and exterior frontage.

Having joined the Thwaites family just last month, Richard and Tiffanie can’t wait to get started behind the bar. Richard explained: “My wife and I have lived in the area for years and felt like we’d be a match made in heaven for the Hare and Hounds. We are fully committed to making it the best pub possible. As soon as we stepped through the doors we knew what we wanted to achieve.”

Tiffanie added: “The Hare and Hounds used to be a drinker’s pub but with so many schools and parks nearby we wanted to incorporate more of a well-rounded, family atmosphere.”

Everything from the bar and dining area to the toilet cubicles have been ripped out and replaced, giving the pub’s interior a revitalising facelift.

Richard also anticipates the atmosphere to be very different moving forward, he said: “We are going to be more of a traditional food lead gastro pub, still serving the pub grub classics like fish and chips and steak and ale pie; but we’ll be sourcing all our produce locally and having it made by our fantastic group of chefs on site, to offer a classic dining feel with a modern twist.”

The official unveiling of the new look Hare and Hounds will take place on Saturday (6th June). The pub will be hosting a family fun day from noon, including bouncy castles, face painting, and entertainment from a fantastic 20 piece brass band and not to mention the opportunity to be one of the first to taste the pub’s totally revamped menu.

Andrew Buchanan, director of pub operations for Thwaites, commented: “It’s an absolutely amazing achievement to get this amount of work done in such a short period of time. I’d like to welcome Richard and Tiffanie to the team and congratulate them for their tremendous efforts so far. I’m sure the new, stylish and family oriented Hare and Hounds pub will be a very popular choice for Todmorden moving forward.”
