All aboard for a pint of Pedigree

Holidaymakers this summer have been able to enjoy the great taste of Marston’s Pedigree, the classic premium real ale, as they stepped aboard their P&O Ferry to Europe.

Travellers on the Dover-Calais, Hull-Europoort, and Hull-Zeebrugge crossings now enjoy a hand-pulled pint of ale from the heart of brewing in Burton Upon Trent in a great British partnership between P&O Ferries and Marston’s Beer Company.

On the bars since early in 2014 the bars have seen the busiest times of the year for holiday makers and Marston’s Pedigree has been a real hit so far.

Paul Wilkin, the Category Manager for P&O Ferries said: “Real ale has been having a resurgence over the last few years and I wanted to be able to offer a traditional hand-pulled pint on the bar of the ferries just as you would see in a traditional pub. The hand-pull demonstrates that we are a ‘proper’ bar whilst the Marston’s Pedigree brand shows that we are serious about beer quality and that there are no compromises whilst being at sea.

“Marston’s were able to provide the service and technical support that we needed and feedback this year has been very positive, along with the volumes.”

Gareth Phillips, National Account Manager at Marston’s Beer Company added: “We’re thrilled to think that travellers can still enjoy a classic pale ale like Marston’s Pedigree as the last pint they drink as they leave the country and then make it the first pint they drink as they return home – what a welcome!
