BATEMANS LAUNCHES NEW GOLDEN BEER

Batemans Brewery, the family owned brewery in Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, has added a golden beer to its range of permanent cask beers, Yella Belly Gold.

Why Yella Belly? This is what Lincolnshire people are known as. Is it due to the Lincolnshire Regiment’s yellow waistcoats, the yellow breasted marsh frogs, the mustard pickers, the yellow undercarriage of the old Lincolnshire stagecoach, the yellow pollen on Lincolnshire poachers’ bellies or is it because they like yellow beer? – who knows!

Whatever the reason Yella Belly Gold with an ABV of 3.9% is a golden colour, refreshing beer brewed with lager malt and Chinook and Cascade hops, giving a lovely citrus flavour and aroma, which is quite dry and very moreish.

The pump clip is the first Batemans beer to move away from the traditional cloverleaf style logo in favour of a crest shaped pump clip and designed with the Fleur-de-Lis in the middle of the clip which is the symbol for Saint Mary, the patron saint of Lincoln.

‘Several trials have already been brewed and tasted in the trade with great results.  Yella Belly Gold is different from any of our existing brews’ says Stuart Bateman ‘and it appeals to a wide range of beer drinkers’.

The launch of Yella Belly is being supported by point-of-sale material for the licensed trade that range from bespoke glasses through to polo shirts and bar runners. The beer is available through the wholesaler network and throughout the Batemans estate.

‘’Time for a GOLDEN moment.”
