Regarding today's data release from the ONS which found that the UK's job market has continued to weaken as vacancies fall - I thought I would get in touch with a quote from the British Beer and Pub Association's CEO Emma McClarkin.
Emma McClarkin, CEO of the British Beer and Pub Association, said: "These stark figures are exactly the reason why the Chancellor must look again at how mitigate the shocking new employment costs so businesses can better plan and continue to employ staff they need, rather than staff they can afford.
"Our sector, which is millions of people’s first step on the career ladder, provides significant employment opportunities for people and those seeking flexible work. Not only that, but their families also rely on them to bring home a wage to help pay the bills.
"However, given the Budget’s rise in National Insurance Contributions and increased wage costs, brewers and pubs may have to make tough decisions in order to weather the many new costs they face.
"We urge the Government to reduce the staggering cost of doing business for our sector, including the urgent delivery of meaningful business rate reforms. Only then can we continue to be the backbone of the UK job market and a cornerstone of the community."
