Reacting to Ofgem launching a statutory consultation on proposals to ensure businesses get the highest standards of service and provide more clarity on the costs being paid to third party energy brokers, Emma McClarkin, Chief Executive of the British Beer and Pub Association said:
“Since the initial publication of the outcome of their non-domestic review we have continued to work with Ofgem on the development of voluntary guidance and best practice for energy suppliers and to feedback broad examples of poor behaviours highlighted by our members based on the experiences of their licensees. We welcome these latest proposals published by Ofgem and DESNEZ to strengthen Ofgem’s powers to address the behaviours of suppliers to the non-domestic energy market and to expand the threshold for business access to the Energy Ombudsman service.
“We will be responding to both consultations launched today by Ofgem and DESNEZ and also to reinforce the need for these proposals to be implemented quickly to support a fairer and more stable non-domestic energy market .”
