Carluccios is set to launch Birra Del Borgo’s highly acclaimed Italian craft beers across the 88 sites of its estate on 24th of March 2015.

Carluccios will be at the sharp end of a growing trend amongst restaurants for beefing up its beer selection in light of the global craft beer boom. Michael Stocks, International Operations Manager at Carluccio’s, said:

“We’re always looking to offer authentic Italian products and introduce new food and drinks to our customers. With the rise of Italian craft beers, we thought now was an ideal time.”

“We chose Birra Del Borgo as one of the pioneers of the Italian craft beer scene and selected two very versatile beers – perfect as an aperitivo – yet with enough structure to pair perfectly with our antipasti dishes or lighter mains.”

As the first UK chain to stock Italian craft beer, Carluccios hopes to corner the market for the thinking drinker and enhance Birra Del Borgos strong reputation for creating beers that work brilliantly with food.

The first two beers to hit the shelves will be Del Borgo’s flagship beer, Reale, and the golden ale – Cortigiana. Reale is a 6.4% IPA with delicious notes of grapefruit, freshly ground white pepper and a balanced yet bitter finish.  Cortigiana at 5% is softer with a bewitching floral citrus aroma and honey-like malt backbone.

Andreas Fält of Leeds based UK importers, Atlas Brands, said:

“Italian craft beer has made significant inroads into the UK and US markets in recent years and Italy is acknowledged as one of the key up-and-coming beer brewing nations. Birra Del Borgo and head brewer, Leonardo Di Vicenzo, are leading lights of the Italian scene and we’re over the moon that their beers will be available to the patrons of Carluccios.”
