Blunham family pub, The Horseshoes gets a full makeover

The Horseshoes pubs in Blunham near Bedford has received a complete refurbishment inside and out by pub owners Red Oak Taverns.  The family friendly community pub had been opened up inside, converting two bars into one open plan room with new décor, flooring, carpets, furniture, wood burning stove and upgraded bar.  High bar seating and tables take advantage of what was an unused area.  Outside the large garden has been renovated and now includes a large patio area with lit pergola and lots of seating as well children’s climbing frame and equipment.

Business development manager for Red Oak Taverns, David Elder said, “This lovely village pub has been completely transformed.  Being the only pub in the village it’s central to the community and we are really pleased that the new look has gone down so well with the locals and new customers alike”.

Liz and Roy Brown have operated the pub for 10 years.  Liz says, “We are over the moon with the refurbishment.  It has given us and the pub a new lease of life. Red Oak have been wonderful and nothing has been too much trouble.  Now we have a bright and comfortable pub that the whole village can enjoy”.

Since the refurbishment Liz and Roy have held a family fun day to showcase the pub and garden, introduced cocktails and have regular food vans that serve different food. They have their second wedding booked at the pub next year and are receiving plenty of bookings for family parties and celebrations.
