Booths craft their ale selection this Christmas

The prized Northern grocers are well known for their extensive range of craft ales. Customers flock from far and wide to fill baskets and trolleys from the 150 craft and a further 300 premium ales lining Booths shelves. Limited edition ales and occasional seasonal offers can also be found in store at various times.

As well as in store, a small selection of ale, handpicked by Booths’ Beer Buyer Pete Newton, is featured on Booths’ online grocery shop this Christmas and New Year orders.booths.co.uk.

Ale has been part of the Booths’ story for decades and consistently in demand so it’s no surprise craft ale has made it into this year’s luxurious Christmas gift range with its very own eye-catching crated selection with a build in bottle opener available at gifts.booths.co.uk. Booths online gift selection can be ordered for next day nationwide delivery (terms and conditions on website) for as little at £6 or collected from one of their 28 stores in Cumbria, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cheshire.

Booths Top 5 Ales this Christmas

Beer is something that everyone can appreciate and there’s a whole new flavour profile of beers in the UK.  ”   –Pete Newton

Eden Gold Magnum £14, 2L 4.2%

The most famous beer of its county, the Cumbria born Eden Gold is delightfully refreshing with a fantastic flavour. Continental hops and traditional floor malted Maris Otter barley is handpicked to create this distinctly blonde and flavoursome ale.

This ale is available at Booths in an extravagant 2 litre Magnum, an ideal gift for ale lovers this Christmas.

Hawkshead Windermere Pale Ale £2.30, 500ml 4%

This Lakeland ale is highly refreshing, very pale ale, bursting with hoppy character and a fine fruity aroma. The blend of three traditional English hops and the modern American hop, Citra, give it its distinct taste. A fine northern champion, fit for the shelves of Booths.

Coniston Old Man Ale £1.75, 500ml 4.2%

One for the more complex taste palate, this ale has a distinctively rich flavour and is a true ale tasting experience all of its own. Ideal for Christmas parties and festive food accompaniments.

A radically different beer… it has roast barley added to the pale and crystal malts. It has a deep burnished copper colour, a rich port wine aroma, a big chocolate and creamy malt palate and a dry, grainy, roasty finish balanced by hop bitterness and tart fruit. It is a remarkably complex beer that deepens and changes as you sup it.”

Eden Brewery Hop Rocket £3, 330ml 7.8%

This Cumbrian brewed ale is sure to tickle your festive taste buds. Hop Rokket started life as a limited edition beer. But its global fusion of Old and New World hops proved so popular it is now officially unlimited and regularly available. With American hop favourites chinook and cascade, combining with the British admiral and rakua from New Zealand, it’s something of a hop who’s who. This deeply flavoursome combination is met with a distinctive alcoholic kick for a unique taste experience.
