As the clocks go back and the midnight hour approaches, Box Steam Brewery is launching a brand new beer to celebrate Halloween.Ghost Train is a 4.8% ABV full-bodied, ruby premium bitter, with a delicate blackcurrant aroma. Initially gentle bitterness on the palate and subtle spicy notes are followed by a sweet, fruity finish.
Ghost Train is the latest in our seasonal guest range, Box Clever Ales, which are brewed in small batches and available for short periods. The range is inspired by one our first brewers, Bob Cleverly, who wrote down his recipes in his notebook, aptly titled Clever Ideas.
Head Brewer ‘Deathly’ Tom Downes comments: “Late at night at our original brewery overlooking Box Tunnel, we sometimes heard the eerie whistle of Brunel’s legendary Ghost Train – carrying the spirits of the workers who lost their lives building the tunnel to their final resting place. Our Ghost Train’s blend of Goldings and Cascade hops is the perfect combination to ward off evil spirits!”
Ghost Train will be available throughout the Season of the Witch on selected bars and pubs across the region.

ABOUT BOX STEAM BREWERY
Box Steam Brewery is an award-winning, independent family-owned craft brewer founded in Wiltshire in 2004 and based just outside Bath.
Head Brewer Tom Downes and his team craft ales using skills passed down through generations of brewers, carefully engineered by hand in the brewery’s steam copper to ensure quality and minimise impact on the environment.
We use the finest local ingredients. Our malt comes from Warminster Maltings (Britain’s oldest working maltings), and we use floor-malted Maris Otter barley – the traditional variety for brewing British Beer.
We only use whole hops in our brewing process, supplied by Charles Faram (hop merchants since 1865), which provide the unique characteristics of our premium quality ale. All of our beers are brewed with a pure strain of Traditional English Ale yeast.
Our ales are the genuine article; real beer for real people who appreciate true quality, character and distinction.
