The UK’s first ever home brew conference & expo, BREW CON will return to London next month. The date it set for Saturday 24th November for the country’s largest gathering of home brewers, industry experts, retailers, distributors & manufacturers of brewing gear and ingredients. The event, held once more at Oval Space in Bethnal Green, was well attended last year, with a large number of amateur and pro brewers in attendance, alongside plenty of would be brewers curious to learn.
BREW CON was launched last year via a successful crowdfunding campaign held by Simon Pipola, avid home brewer and events manager at popular London craft beer venue, The Beer Merchants Tap.
“The home brewing community has grown exponentially over the last few years, in the wake of the ongoing craft beer revolution we are seeing across the UK. We believed the time was right to reach out to all the pockets of home brewers and home brew clubs and bring everyone together” stated Simon of last year’s BREW CON.
This year’s event will see a plethora of beer industry heavy-weights come together to lead the BREWtalks including a keynote talk from Jaega Wise, head brewer of Wild Card Brewery and regular BBC contributor. Other talks include British Guild of Beer Writer Chairman Pete Brown, Melissa Cole, John Keeling and Andy Parker of Elusive Brewing amongst others.
The BREWtalks will be held in the Pickle Factory, a second venue located opposite Oval Space which will mean there will room for more exhibitors, a bigger bar and a pop-up home brew shop in the main hall. Established brewing industry companies such as Muntons & Lallemands will sit alongside home brew equipment & ingredient retailers Malt Miller and brewing system manufacturers Grainfather & Hopcat.
Alongside Brew Con London, there will also be an accompanying home brew competition the “Brew Con World Series II”. This competition will see hundreds of amateur brewers battle it out over three rounds for the chance to win some great prizes and beer trips. Last years prizes included a trip to Portland Oregon for the American Home Brew Con and a trip to Copenhagen to brew at the world famous Warpigs. This years prizes are shaping up to be even better!
