With the World Cup just around the corner, York-based brewery, Brew York, have once again teamed up with former player, manager and TV pundit Chris 'Kammy' Kamara to re-release Kammy's Un-Beer-Lievable lager which, as well as quenching the thirst of football fans, will help raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK.
Kammy, who played for Swindon Town, Brentford, Stoke City, Leeds United, Sheffield United and Middlesborough amongst others, as well as managing Bradford City, has supported Prostate Cancer UK for many years and previously collaborated with Brew York during the 2024 European Championship where sales of Kammy's Un-Beer-Lievable lager raised over £15,000 for the charity.
One in eight men will get prostate cancer, and your risk doubles if you're Black. But it can be curable if found early. Prostate Cancer UK are dedicated to giving men the clarity and guidance they need to navigate this disease with confidence at every step. And as the UK's biggest public funder of prostate cancer research, they are proud to be powering the breakthroughs that will make screening a reality, and create better treatments with fewer side effects - giving our dads, mates, and partners the best chance of living longer, healthier lives.
The beer is being brewed at Brew York's Osbaldwick brewery in York and will be pouring at Brew York and Brew+ venues in time for the World Cup which is being screened to the general public and, where available, in pre-booked seating to maximise the tournament experience.
Kammy said;
"Brew York have been a perfect partner to work with for this project. It's exciting to know it will feature heavily in their pubs and bars and raise awareness of prostate cancer. I'll certainly be having a few cans whilst I'm cheering on England at the World Cup."
Wayne Smith, co-founder and Managing Director, Brew York added;
"It's an absolute pleasure to be collaborating with Kammy again. His enthusiasm for this beer – and the money it raises for Prostate Cancer UK - is irresistible. It was extremely popular when we brewed it in 2024 and of course, we're aiming to add as much as we can to the £15,000 raised previously."
James Steven, Head of Partnerships, Prostate Cancer UK concluded;
"We're delighted that Brew York and our long-time supporter Kammy are once again supporting us ahead of another massive summer of football as the World Cup kicks into action. Through the funds raised and awareness generated from this collaboration, we're reaching men with a health awareness message in an environment where they feel most comfortable, whilst also raising money that will help save lives. We are excited to see this come to life over the summer!"
The beer, at 4.1% abv, is a crisp, refreshing lager with a gentle spicy-herbal aroma and will be pouring at Brew York and Brew+ venues from the 5th June - as well as being available in cans to take-away, Brew York's online shop as well as selected craft beer bottle shops across the UK.
As part of the promotional push, trade customers of Brew York will also get the chance to win an appearance from Kammy to their own venue where he'll give his thoughts on the World Cup as well as reflect on memorable moments of his career – in his own inimitable style.
The opportunity to meet Kammy is also being extended to the public through a 'goal'-den ticket prize draw based on each case (12) of cans purchased directly from Brew York venues and webshop.
Details of Kammy's Un-Beer-Lievable launch and competitions will be on Brew York's social media channels and mail list over the coming days.
About Brew York
Brew York was founded in 2016 by friends Wayne Smith and Lee Grabham. Starting in 2016, as many other craft breweries were beginning their journey, creating Brew York was the realisation of a long-lived dream to build a brewery in York's bustling centre with a popular on-site Tap Room, creating a destination where it felt welcoming and inviting to enjoy the beer (and other drinks) right next to the tanks they were brewed in.
All Brew York's beer is brewed in York, some in their original city centre brewhouse, and now a lot of the beer is brewed 10 minutes up the road in their state-of-the-art production facility in Osbaldwick.

About Prostate Cancer UK
Prostate Cancer UK is the UK's biggest public funder of prostate cancer research, and delivers support services and award-winning health information trusted by doctors and the NHS to help men navigate the disease.
Our mission is a future where no man dies of prostate cancer – and the next leap forward will be a national screening programme.
Over the last 16 years we've led key scientific advances that have brought us closer to screening than ever before, by developing more accurate tests and treatments that are kinder to men, and campaigning for their adoption across the UK. Our £42 million TRANSFORM trial is testing four of the most promising screening protocols to find the best way to test men across the country. And our 30-second Risk Checker has reached more than 4 million men, boosted early diagnosis and shown that mass awareness saves lives.
Everything we do is powered by donations from our supporters and developed in collaboration with men with prostate cancer.
The facts
• Prostate Cancer UK has funded more than £120 million in research – now £10-12 million annually as the biggest public funder of prostate cancer research in the UK.
• Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer, and if you're Black, that risk is doubled.
• The earlier you find prostate cancer, the easier it is to treat. But early prostate cancer often doesn't have symptoms. That's why it's important for men to know their risk and what they can do about it. You can check your risk online in just 30 seconds by visiting Prostate Cancer UK's Risk Checker at: prostatecanceruk.org/risk
• The best first test for prostate cancer is a quick and simple PSA blood test, and if your PSA level is elevated, you may need an MRI scan. You do not need a rectal exam to check for prostate cancer.
• Your risk of prostate cancer increases if you're over 50, if you're Black, or if you have a family history of the disease. If you are at higher risk, you have the right to request a PSA blood test free from your GP.
• Each year in the UK, more than 63,000 men are diagnosed and more than 12,000 die of the disease.
