The can’s striking artwork was created by York-based artist Kai West, whose design draws inspiration from the city’s rich chocolate-making heritage. The label reimagines the River Ouse as a flowing river of chocolate, weaving through recognisable York landmarks and hiding playful historical and cultural references throughout.

Speaking about the project, Kai West said:

“Being asked to work on this project was a complete surprise and a real honour — I’ve always wanted to design a beer can. Knowing it will be available nationally in ASDA makes it even more special.”

Commenting on the collaboration, Yousef Doubooni, Sales & Marketing Director at Brew York, said:

“We’re thrilled to partner with ASDA on this collaboration. It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring our inventive, flavour-forward approach to a wider audience. We can’t wait for people to try it.”

From ASDA’s perspective, the collaboration continues its commitment to championing standout craft beer. Alex Noonan, Buyer at ASDA, added:

“ASDA is proud to partner with some of the UK’s most exciting craft breweries. Building on the success of our 2025 collaboration launch, we’re rotating the range, exploring even more styles and celebrating the breadth of flavour that only true craft beer can deliver. This decadent salted caramel stout from Brew York is certain to be a hit with our customers.”

The Salted Caramel Stout will be available on shelves in ASDA stores nationwide from February 2026, retailing at £3.02 and included as part of ASDA’s 4 for 3 multibuy offer.

About

Brew York was founded in 2016 by friends Wayne Smith and Lee Grabham. Starting in 2016, as many other craft breweries were beginning their journey, creating Brew York was the realisation of a long-lived dream to build a brewery in York’s bustling centre with a popular on-site Tap Room, creating a destination where it felt welcoming and inviting to enjoy the beer (and other drinks) right next to the tanks they were brewed in.

All Brew York’s beer is brewed in York, some in their original city centre brewhouse, and now a lot of the beer is brewed 10 minutes up the road in their state-of-the-art production facility in Osbaldwick.
