York-based independent brewery Brew York is proud to announce the release of Slay Queen, a bold West Coast IPA brewed to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026.
International Women’s Day, marked globally on March 8th each year, is a day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while also recognising the work still to be done to achieve gender equality. At Brew York, it’s an opportunity to champion the incredible women within the business, across the brewing industry, and throughout its wider community.
A Beer with Bite
Slay Queen is a bold, uncompromising West Coast IPA — brewed with clarity, confidence and attitude. Expect punchy pine, bright citrus and resinous hop character, delivering a crisp, clean bitterness true to classic West Coast style. No haze. No nonsense.
Inspired by the fearless spirit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Slay Queen is a tribute to strength, independence and taking on the darkness head-on (stake optional).
A Collaborative Brew Day
The beer was brewed back in January at Brew York’s Osbaldwick brewery, where women from across the Brew York team — alongside women from a number of trade customers — were invited to take part in the brew day. The collaboration created a space to celebrate shared experiences, highlight female voices within the industry, and quite simply brew a fantastic beer together.
Jess Chaney & Sam Warren-Close, at Brew York, said:
“It was amazing to see so many talented women come together for the brew day — from our own team to trade customers. Slay Queen isn’t just a beer, it’s a celebration of strength, creativity and independence, and we can’t wait for everyone to try it and raise a glass to women everywhere.”
Launch Details
Slay Queen will launch on Tuesday 3rd March 2026, available via the Brew York website and through selected good beer retailers across the UK.
With Slay Queen, Brew York raises a glass not just to great beer — but to the strength, creativity and resilience of women everywhere.

About
Brew York was founded in 2016 by friends Wayne Smith and Lee Grabham. Starting in 2016, as many other craft breweries were beginning their journey, creating Brew York was the realisation of a long-lived dream to build a brewery in York’s bustling centre with a popular on-site Tap Room, creating a destination where it felt welcoming and inviting to enjoy the beer (and other drinks) right next to the tanks they were brewed in.
All Brew York’s beer is brewed in York, some in their original city centre brewhouse, and now a lot of the beer is brewed 10 minutes up the road in their state-of-the-art production facility in Osbaldwick.
