Bristol Bears players open The Windmill, Portishead

Bristol Bears players Siva Naulago and Kalaveti Ravouvou cut the ribbon at the reopening of The Windmill in Portishead – following a transformative refurbishment.

Overlooking the Severn Estuary, The Windmill boasts panoramic windows and an outside seating area with stunning views. The newly transformed dining area overlooks the pub’s garden which rolls right down to the waterside – giving the illusion of alfresco dining even when sat inside.

The refurbishment has seen the whole pub modernised – with dark blues and greens complimenting the natural light. The dining area has plenty of tables with a view. In the bar, cosy seats, high tables and an open fire make it the perfect place for a drink – whether you’re settling in for a long evening or visiting for a quick rest stop.

The food offering has also been elevated – with delicious pub classics alongside new dishes such as slow-braised lamb shank served with dauphinoise potato, red cabbage and red wine gravy, and a Cornish Orchards cured trout salad with beets, grapefruit, radish, sesame seeds, and chilli and lemon dressing.

General Manager Chris Bosse said: “I’m delighted The Windmill is open again. The pub is looking incredible, and it was an honour to have Siva and Kalaveti along to officially open the pub at our welcome party. We’re proud of our connection with our local community so it was brilliant to have players from our local rugby team along to cut the ribbon, plus live music from local band The Midnight Fiddle Band, and officially reinstate ourselves at the heart of our community. My team and I look forward to welcoming you all.
