Butcombe Brewing Company has purchased the Castle Inn, West Lulworth and marks its first Dorset site in their estate.
The Castle Inn is a traditional 16th Century, thatched pub and boutique hotel near the beautiful Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door of the Jurassic coastline. It marks the first Dorset site for the brewer and will be a flagship site amongst their portfolio in the South West.
Renowned for its large selection of traditional ciders, including Butcombe’s Ashton Press, it also earned the pub the title of ‘National CAMRA Cider and Perry Pub of the Year’ in 2014. As well as the national award, the Castle Inn has also gained recognition as East Dorset CAMRA’s “Rural Pub of the Year” in 2014, 2012 & 2010.
Outside of the quality food and drink offering The Castle Inn boasts, it is a firm favourite with ramblers and dog owners alike, being perfectly situated for walks along the scenic south west coast path.
The purchase is Butcombe’s first acquisition in Dorset, and will sit with their now 35 strong estate in the South West. Butcombe bought the pub from the Halliday family for an undisclosed sum.
