Caerphilly craft brewery to Fire new site launch with Super Furry Animals

A CAERPHILLY-based craft brewery will celebrate the launch of its new village development by hosting a one-night festival for beer enthusiasts, featuring a live brewing demonstration with Welsh rock band the Super Furry Animals on Saturday February 1st.

The Celt Experience, which boasts a range of unique craft beers, is launching its new site by hosting a Fire Festival, a celebration of innovative craft beer, art and ‘smokey’ food.

The Festival will include free samples of the brewery’s acclaimed craft beers and even a live brew of a new collaborative beer between The Celt Experience and the Super Furry Animals.

Presenting at the Fire Festival will be renowned award-winning sommALEier, journalist and beer judge, Melissa Cole.

Guests will also be able to purchase American Southern-style barbecue food from one of Wales’ most exciting pop-up restaurants, Hang Fire Smokehouse. The team promises heaps of wood-smoked meats and ‘fixins’ that The Celt Experience will pair with the flavour profiles of its own craft beers.

Culture enthusiasts will also be able to view a mural by mixed media artist, Sarah Ogren. Sarah will be flying in from Chicago and has produced a unique piece on the wall of the Brewery’s new Craft Bowl centre, which will open to the public later this year.

The festival will then end on a high with live music and a fire performance art display to wow guests at midnight.

Tom Newman, Founder and Head Brewer at The Celt Experience, said:

“We’re delighted to launch our new Celt Experience Village development with the Fire Festival. The Festival will celebrate our innovative brand of craft beers that aim to test tastebuds with contentious and paranormal flavours, while also celebrating Saint Brighid’s Day, a special date in the Celtic calendar marking the beginning of Spring.

“At The Celt Experience, we like to do things differently and the Fire Festival will most certainly follow that theme. Guests can expect to be kept on their toes throughout the night with surprise events. For fans of new and interesting beers, this is the ideal opportunity to sample the exciting new beers coming from our Caerphilly base.

Melissa Cole is excited to be involved in the event, and said:

“For me Celt Experience has transformed itself over the past few years in a way that shows they really ‘get’ what beer’s about. They understand that making delicious, sessionable beers that you want to enjoy down the pub with mates, is at the heart of how we drink in the UK.

“But I also love that they will embrace completely ‘batcrap’ mental ideas like beers with wild Welsh yeast, fermented Chinese tea and aged in red wine barrels, like our co-collaboration and Leon Mickleson from The Brew in Shanghai. That’ll capture the attention of the cognoscenti of the alcohol world and make them realise that beer comes in more than just pints.”

Sam Evans, Co-owner of Hang Fire Smokehouse, said:

“We are delighted to offer our range of homemade Southern-style barbecue food for The Celt Experience’s Fire Festival.

“The combination of our smokey food and Celt’s unique craft beers will create a taste sensation for guests and we can’t wait to kick things off with them.”

Tickets cost just £10 each and will include samples of The Celt Experience’s craft ales, as well as the opportunity to enter competitions on the night. To purchase your ticket for the evening, please visit:

Transport will also be available for attending guests from Cardiff via a minibus from Cardiff Central train station to Caerphilly; which requires advance booking.
