CAMRA calls for better transport service at Kensington Olympia Station

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has thrown its weight behind a campaign to restore a full District Line service at Kensington Olympia Station ahead of the hugely popular Great British Beer Festival, which will be taking place at Olympia London from 7-11 August 2018.

The restoration of the District Line would ensure that the many tens of thousands of visitors attending the Great British Beer Festival will be able to get to the festival as easily, safely, environmentally and responsibly as possible.

Olympia London has been the chosen venue for CAMRA’s Great British Beer Festival for the last seven years, providing the ideal place for the organisation to showcase the very best of British beers. Over 900 real ales, ciders, perries and wines are available under one roof, making it a mecca for beer lovers across the country.

The Connect Kensington Olympia campaign is calling for the return of a full tube service, which the Kensington Olympia station has been without since 2011.

Catherine Tonry, the organiser of the Great British Beer Festival said: “Olympia London has been a fantastic venue for the Great British Beer Festival, and has provided the ideal place for CAMRA to showcase the best of British beers for seven years in a row.

“We support the Connect Kensington Olympia campaign to make it easier for festival-goers to travel to the venue, as well as the million people who visit Olympia London over the year. A venue like this deserves the best transport links so all the events it hosts can benefit.”

Nigel Nathan, Managing Director of Olympia London, said: “We are committed to ensuring event show organisers and guests enjoy a best-in-class experience each time they visit Olympia London. Good connectivity to the rest of London is key to this. The restoration of a full tube service at Kensington Olympia station would deliver numerous benefits to the area – we are proud that CAMRA is supporting us with this important campaign.”
