DOUBLE – BARRELLED BREWERY CELEBRATES THIRD BIRTHDAY

This month Reading based Double-Barrelled Brewery will turn three years old. As a celebration of their journey husband and wife team Mike and Luci Clayton-Jones have brewed a series of three limited edition collaboration beers which will be unveiled at their onsite Taproom on Saturday 13th November.

Selecting breweries who share the vision, ethos and commitment to craft Double-Barrelled are joined by Finchampstead’s Elusive Brewing and Siren Craft Brew, Duration Brewing, Boxcar Brewery, Vocation and Oslo’s Amundsen Bryggeri.

The three celebratory beers include:

Everything But The Bulbs (10.%) Brewed with Elusive Brewing and Siren Craft Brew, this Imperial Stout is inspired by Reading’s history as the world’s capital of biscuit production – and local moniker “The 3 B’s”(Beer, biscuits and bulbs). Using ingredients and flavours associated with biscuits such as light and dark muscovado sugar, treacle, golden syrup and molasses, this rich, dark beer is indulgent and decadent.

Infinite Reflections (6.2%) Brewed with Duration Brewing and Boxcar Brewery, this Triple Dry Hop IPA is a celebration of contemporary, and a showcase of the development of Double-Barrelled’s hoppy beers. Brewed with a 35g/l dry hop of Mosaic Cryo, Mosaic Lupomax, Rakau and the brewery’s first use of boutique hop Strata. The result is an incredibly soft IPA with massive hop expression and notes of lemon and tropics.

The Gum Wall (6.8%) Brewed with Amundsen Bryggeri and Vocation, this cherry & lime Kettle Sour uses sour red cherry purees and fresh lime zest and juice for a tart, mouth puckering beer. A style that Double-Barrelled has become well known for, this beer in the series is intended to embody the fun, excitement and theatre of contemporary fast sours.

Co-Founder and Head Brewer Mike Clayton-Jones says “These three beers represent the culmination of three years of brewing development on this site, and showcase the breadth of styles that we as a team love to brew here in Reading. It was an absolute pleasure to host some of the UKs leading craft breweries to our brewery to brew with us, and we now can’t wait to share them with you all.”

The brewery has rapidly grown over the past three years, increasing production capacity, expanding their team and will continue in this vein with fermentation doubling in 2022. Availability will increase locally and nationally, with the brewery already supplying Michelin star accredited restaurant L’Ortolan and London venues such as The Hop Locker and The Rake. Co-Founder and Managing Director Luci Clayton-Jones adds “The people and businesses of Reading and the wider craft beer industry have done so much to support us from the journey from our garage, over three fantastic, but rocky years. Our three year anniversary is a fantastic excuse to celebrate that and share some of the progression we have made thanks to this support”

Debuting at Double-Barrelled’s Taproom on Saturday 13th November, the brewery will be hosting a ticketed party to celebrate including exclusive beers, street food, live music and limited edition merchandise. The birthday beer set will be released to the trade from Monday 15th November, and the beers will also be available direct from the brewery’s webshop and Taproom.
