Euroboozer Fires Up Cole for Burger Day Bonanza

Hertfordshire-based craft and speciality beer importer Euroboozer has teamed up with award-winning beer expert and writer Melissa Cole for a takeaway twist to the burger bonanza this National Burger Day.

Taking place on the 25th August, National Burger Day is a UK-wide celebration with pubs, restaurants, cafes and street food vendors promoting all manner of special creations to really push the burger boat out and ramp up celebrations.

While hugely popular, the boisterous burger does not get anywhere close to top of the UK charts for favourite takeaway meals. Instead, Chinese, Indian, Pizza, Fish ‘n Chips and even Thai reign supreme.

To take the attack to takeaway and help put burgers on top of the pile, Melissa was challenged to flip the country’s top five takeaways into four takeaway fusion burgers, which could be perfectly paired with the nation’s favourite drink – beer.

Her recipes and pairings for the big day are as follows:

THAI FISH & CHIP BURGER paired with a Stiegl Goldbräu

CHINESE CURRY CHICKEN BURGER paired with a Brooklyn Stonewall IPA

INDIAN-INSPIRED LAMB BURGER paired with a London Brewing Co. Beer Street

MUSHROOM PIZZA BURGER paired with a Bohemia Regent Petr Vok Amber Lager

“Melissa has been a driving force behind beer and food matching in the UK so it’s great to link up for this campaign around beer and burger pairing for National Burger Day. It’s a huge day for a core part of our customer base and always a lot of fun so we’re delighted with the recipes Melissa has created and can’t wait to see what the UK’s talented chefs have up their sleeves for the big day.”

Melissa Cole said:

“It’s surprising to me the burger doesn’t make it into the top five UK takeaway list, in fact, only 2% of the nation pick a burger as their number one.  That means there’s an excellent business opportunity for the on-trade to offer a beer pairing as part of a burger package, to entice more customers in and give business a boost.”

About Euroboozer

Started from the back of an old VW Vento in 2003, Euroboozer was set up by beer lover Martyn Railton, initially importing Austrian brands Stiegl, Schremser and Hirter. The company soon branched out across Europe and the Atlantic helping to drive the craft beer trend in the UK.

Nineteen years on the VW Vento has gone to be replaced with offices and a warehouse in Hertfordshire and Euroboozer now supplies some of the finest food and beverage establishments and retailers in the country.

In addition to the Austrian beers, the company exclusively distributes Andechs, Blakstoc, Harpoon and Other Half, as well as ten exciting Czech craft breweries and a host of leading UK brewers.
