GOOSE ISLAND BEER COMPANY PARTNER WITH SIGNATURE BREW FOR FIRST COLLABORATION OF 2020

EARTH KVEIK IPA IS MADE WITH TRADITIONAL KVEIK YEAST

AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY AT THE GOOSE ISLAND BREWPUB, SHOREDITCH

SAMPLING EVENT – 22.01.2020 AT THE BREWPUB

ABV: 6.7%, IBU: 40

Goose Island Beer Company has announced the first of its 2020 collaborations, kicking off the new year with a Kveik IPA in partnership with London brewers Signature Brew.

Earth Kveik IPA (6.7%)  is an intensely fruity pale ale brewed with 5 different hops and fermented on a Norwegian farmhouse ale yeast. A rustic malt backbone and soft mouthfeel provide the perfect backdrop for the hops. Notes of orange, cherry, and strawberry blend together for a complex but approachable beer.

Goose Island Head Brewer Andrew Walton said: “We are huge fans of Signature Brew here at the Brewpub and jumped at the chance to brew a beer with them. We both love hop driven beers but wanted to put a twist on it to dial up the flavours. The Kveik yeast we brewed with has added an extra fruity element that harmonizes beautifully with the hops. Earth Kveik is approachable but has a massive depth of flavour to keep you coming back.”

Signature Brew Head Brewer Tom Unwin said: “It’s great kicking off the year by collaborating with our friends at the Goose Island Brewpub. We pride ourselves on our collabs, although they’re usually with musicians like Mastodon, IDLES and alt-J, so this was something fresh for us. It’s also the first time we’ve brewed using Kveik yeast so we’re really excited for drinkers to try Earth Kveik as it promises to be a really special beer.”

Kveik yeast has seen a huge resurgence in popularity in the last five years and is mostly commonly used in Norwegian farmhouse ale. This generational yeast is centered around small farming communities in Norway which allows the yeast to take on unique characteristics when compared to traditional Europeans strains.

Samples of Earth Kveik IPA will be served for free at The Goose Island Brewpub (222 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6PJ) on 22nd January 2020 from 7pm, hosted by Goose’s Head Brewer Andrew Walton and Signature Brew’s Head Brewer Tom Unwin.
