Where: multiple Mitchells & Butlers locations. Find your nearest pub here

When: the iconic beer will be available while the stock lasts

This marks the largest scale at which the iconic beer has ever been made available on draught in the UK.

The beer was derived in 1992 when Goose Island’s brewmaster wanted to brew something truly unique for the brewpub’s 1,000th batch. A chance encounter between the brewmaster and Jim Beam’s sixth generation Master Distillery, Booker Noe led to Goose Island acquiring the barrels for what was to become the world’s first bourbon barrel-aged beer.

For 30 years since, yearly vintages are released striving to honour the original recipe, alongside other groundbreaking and innovative variants.

Aged in a mix of bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill and Wild Turkey distilleries, the resulting beer boasts a rich, complex texture with a blend of chocolate, vanilla, oak, whiskey, and molasses flavours, followed by caramel, berry fruit, and almond notes.

In addition to Bourbon County Stout, the residency will also welcome back Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale for a limited time, alongside regular favourite, Today’s Haze.

Goose Island spokesperson, Doug Fitzgerald, comments: “Bottles of Bourbon County Stout are some of the most sought after beers anywhere in the world, and the UK is no exception. To offer this iconic beer in so many pubs across the country is an exciting moment for us in the UK and we can’t wait to share it with beer lovers across the country.

“In the years since the first batch of Bourbon County Stout was brewed, the folklore surrounding the beer has grown to the point of mythical status and there are many Brits  that look forward to the vintage every year.”
