Greene King celebrates £4m record-breaking fundraising year for Macmillan Cancer Support in 2025

  • Pub teams and communities come together to raise over £4m to help fund Macmillan’s Support Line and its network of Macmillan professionals across the country

  • In 2025 Greene King announced it had reached an incredible £25m milestone over its 13-year partnership with the UK’s leading cancer support charity

Greene King is celebrating another consecutive year of record-breaking fundraising for its long-term charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support, having raised over £4m during 2025.

This remarkable achievement follows the announcement at the end of last year that the UK’s leading pub company and brewer had reached a £25m milestone, marking 13 years of dedicated partnership and tireless fundraising efforts across its 1,600 managed pubs, breweries, and support centres.

The first six months of 2025 saw Greene King direct its fundraising to support Macmillan’s Support Line, which provides those living with cancer and their loved ones with confidential emotional, practical and financial information and support.  Team members and customers united to raise nearly £1.7m for this vital lifeline.  The money raised could help to fund the Cancer Information and Support team on Macmillan’s Support Line for just over 10 months – during which time the team could offer support to almost 32,000 people affected by cancer.*

During the second half of the year, fundraising efforts focussed on supporting Macmillan professionals, with the company raising over £2.3m.  This money could pay for more than 60 Macmillan nurses for six months**, enabling them to continue providing essential care and support in communities nationwide.

Greene King’s top fundraising pub, the Waterfold Farm in Bury, raised over £23,000 for Macmillan in 2025.  General Manager, Ashley Dale, said “Supporting Macmillan means the world to the team.  Almost everyone knows someone affected by cancer, and while that can be tough, the team finds comfort in knowing their efforts help fund the brilliant support Macmillan provides everyday via its Support Line and Macmillan nurses.

“Our ‘little and often’ fundraising events, like quiz nights, raffles and cake sales, really do add up and brings our community together. I’m so proud of the team and am grateful for the generosity shown by our amazing customers.”

Nick Mackenzie, Greene King CEO, said: “Our pubs sit at the heart of communities, offering a welcoming space for people to come together, connect and support one another through life’s highs and lows. It’s this shared commitment to support our communities and make a positive difference that unites Greene King and Macmillan.

“A massive thank you to our teams, customers and suppliers for rallying behind Macmillan once again, making these milestones possible. Together we’ve raised £4 million that will make a tangible difference – helping to keep Macmillan’s Support Line available when people need it most and supporting Macmillan professionals to continue delivering life-changing care every day.”

Gemma Peters, Chief Executive at Macmillan Cancer Support said: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at Greene King for raising a record-breaking £4 million in 2025, and for their unwavering commitment across fourteen fantastic years of partnership. Greene King colleagues and customers across the country have once again raised the bar, throwing themselves into fundraising with unrelenting energy and determination to support people living with cancer.

“As a charity that relies almost entirely on public donations, the generosity of partners like Greene King means we can continue to do whatever it takes to get everyone with cancer vital support, whoever and wherever they are.”

As Greene King continues to support Macmillan Cancer Support, the company remains committed to raising funds and awareness for those living with cancer.
