Guild Member Invitation: Join us for the reopening of The Crown, Blackheath

Posted on behalf of Shepherd Neame.

We are delighted to announce that as part of ongoing investment in Shepherd Neame’s estate, we are currently undertaking a £750,000 transformational refurbishment of The Crown, Blackheath.

A former coaching inn dating back to the 16th century, The Crown is at the heart of bustling Blackheath Village. Our aim is to retain and enhance the unique features of this historic pub while introducing a stylish look and feel.

The pub’s traditional heritage will be celebrated with retro 1950s and 1960s décor throughout, including a nod to Shepherd Neame’s long brewing history with the introduction of vintage pump clips and beer mats. A piano in the side bar area will be used for weekly singalongs, with impromptu customer performances encouraged!

It will continue to champion real ale, with a wide selection of award-winning craft ales available on draught, served in authentic glass and pewter tankards. Customers can also enjoy a wide range of lagers, ciders and premium wines and spirits.

In keeping with the retro theme, a delicious new menu of homemade traditional bar snacks and pub classics is being introduced – but with a contemporary twist, using the finest locally sourced produce.

The pub has been closed for refurbishment since the start of January, and will be reopening to customers on the evening of February 23.

To celebrate the Royal Crown’s new look and offer, General Manager Jan Mullerson and his team are hosting an exclusive launch event at the pub on Wednesday, February 28.

It is taking place from 6pm to 8pm, with a presentation to be made by our Chief Executive Jonathan Neame at 7pm. Nibbles and drinks will be provided for guests.

We would be delighted if you could join us for this special event. Please let us know if you can attend by emailing your RSVP to crownbh@shepherdneame.co.uk by Wednesday, February 21.
