What:
To celebrate the completion of the development works funded by Waltham Forest Council on Lockwood Way Estate, six local independent businesses are teaming up for a family-friendly, all-day, Block Party on Saturday 16 July.
The participating businesses are;
Hackney Brewery, Wild Card Brewery, Renegade Urban Winery, Wild Grains Bakery, Retrospective Scooters.
- Hackney, Wild Card & Renegade’s taprooms will all be open for drinking in, serving their own selections of craft beer, wines, cocktails and spirits.
- Each taproom will have street food traders serving all day including Fin & Flounder Oysters & Chicken & Gotchu.
- The weekend will also serve as the grand opening of Renegade’s E17 Taproom.
- The event will be completely family friendly, with kids activities including face painting & other fun kid friendly games.
- The event starts at midday (12pm) and will close at 11pm.
Local events & festival programmers Continental Drifts have curated a lineup of live music for the day, alongside local DJs throughout. Lineup includes:
- Local brass band, Das Brass
- Big Smoke Family, New Orleans funk band.
- & Soul Picnic DJs: Dom Mandrell and Pat Richmond plus guests.
The council-funded improvements to the estate will be officially launched with a ceremony at the start of the day. These improvements include new trees and greenery, signage for each business, bike racks, street seating and covered areas.

Renegade Urban Winery is a cutting edge urban winery based in E17. Founded in 2016, they buy top quality hand harvested grapes from vineyards around the UK and Europe, race them back to London and make innovative, premium, modern styles of wine.
Originally located in Bethnal Green, Renegade moved their wine production to Blackhorse Lane in the summer of 2021. Here they have built a state of the art winery with a bar (and kitchen to come). Their Bethnal Green OG winery is till there and houses a quirky wine bar and kitchen.

Hackney Brewery celebrated 10 years of brewing in 2021. Founded in a couple of railway arches in Haggerston back in 2011, Hackney Brewery is an independently-owned brewery now based on Blackhorse Lane, E17.
After a successful Crowdfunding campaign in 2021 Hackney opened its High Hill Tap, a modern, US-inspired 300 capacity taproom situated right in the heart of the brewery. Featuring a cosy indoor bar, grand beer hall & spacious outdoor yard, serving 20 taps of the freshest Hackney beers alongside the best selection of independent craft beer on the Blackhorse Beer Mile. Hackney Brewery are known for their modern and hop-forward styles, colourful illustrations, and always inventive experimentation.
