Hong Kong award completes brewery’s chocolate hat-trick

Saltaire Brewery is celebrating a hat-trick of international awards for its Triple Chocoholic stout beer, after tasting success at the prestigious Hong Kong International Beer Awards.
The awards, now in their fourth year, attracted hundreds of entries from breweries around the world, and Saltaire Brewery was one of only four UK breweries to win.
The 4.8% ABV Triple Chocoholic won the Best Stout category, with the judges praising the “smooth mix of chocolate malts, cocoa and chocolate essence”.
It is the third international award won since Saltaire Brewery began exporting its speciality chocolate stout 12 months ago, with the two previous awards coming in the World Beer Awards and in brewing’s ‘Oscars’, the Brewing Industry International Awards.
Triple Chocoholic is currently exported for sale in bars and shops in seven countries across Europe, Asia, South America and New Zealand.
Ewen Gordon, sales director at Saltaire Brewery, said: “The Hong Kong awards are the top beer awards in south east Asia, and we were up against many of the big boys in the international brewing world, so to win in our first year of exporting is a huge achievement. It’s also a great boost for Yorkshire brewing in general.”
