London brewery Howling Hops are celebrating 10 years of brewing with an open-invitation party at their iconic Tank Bar in Hackney Wick on 24th March. To mark the occasion, 1000 glasses of their 1000th brew will be given away on the night!
Using 10 different malts and 10 different hops, BREW 1000 is a 6.6% New England IPA, showcasing the intense hop flavours and balanced drinkability that Howling Hops is known for!
From 5pm on 24th March, attendees will receive 2 x tokens, each granting a 2/3rd pint pour of BREW 1000 from the Tank Bar on the night. A full range of other Howling Hops beers will also be available, and vinyl-only DJs will be playing all evening. Food is available from the brewery’s new Sri Lankan kitchen residency KOTTU HOUSE.
Beginning life in the basement of legendary Hackney pub The Cock Tavern in 2012, brewing on kit once used by Camden Town Brewery’s Jasper Cuppaidge in the basement of The Horseshoe, Howling Hops has developed from a local brewpub brand to a nationally acclaimed brewer of beers in dozens of styles, though specialising in generously hopped beers with bags of flavour.
In 2015, they made the move to Hackney Wick, converting a former glassworks in Queens Yard into the UK’s first dedicated Tank Bar, pouring ten brewery-fresh beers from ten 1200l tanks. Since then, the brewery has grown its team, spread its distribution across the UK and earned its place as a stalwart of the London brewing scene.
Owner Pete Holt said: “After a turbulent couple of years, we’re delighted to properly celebrate the birthday of the brewery with an event to thank our valued customers, beer industry friends and the Howling Hops team, past and present.”
