Independent Brewer’s Beers Officially World Class

Shepherd Neame’s beers have been honoured with three medals in the World Beer Awards 2022.

In the Hoppy Pilsner category, Bear Island Triple Hopped Lager (4.6% ABV) scooped gold. Launched in 2017, the full-flavoured lager is crafted using a trio of distinctive hops, with Challenger from the UK, Saaz from the Czech Republic and US Mosaic with punchy tropical hop-forward flavours and aromas.

Keeping it in the Bear Island family, Noughty Bear 0.5% IPA received a bronze award in the IPA category. Combining four different hop varieties, Noughty Bear has 70 calories and less than 1g of sugar per 330ml bottle, making it the lighter choice in every way. Launched in 2021, it is the first low alcohol brew from Shepherd Neame.

The brewer received a silver award for its India Pale Ale (6.1% ABV) in the English Style category. A glorious showcase of a distinct, hoppy beer India Pale Ale delivers potent bitterness, balanced with generous amounts of pale ale malt to deliver a deep golden ale, with spiced fruit notes.

Director of Brewing Mike Unsworth said: “We are delighted to have achieved these results at the World Beer Awards, particularly the medals for our Bear Island range.

“To receive such prestigious awards for our beers highlights the excellent skill of our teams, particularly brewing, production, quality control and bottling. These awards also showcase the breadth the beers that we offer, demonstrating the very best in British brewing.”
