Innis & Gunn brings a taste of Canada to Scotland with a limited-edition release and celebratory Canada Day parties
To celebrate Innis & Gunn’s close relationship with Canada, for its 150th birthday on July 1st, the brewer has launched a limited-edition amber ale with the famous flavours of the two nations; Canadian maple and the iconic Scottish thistle, named “Maple & Thistle”. Alongside this, parties will be hosted at the brands Beer Kitchens in Edinburgh and Glasgow to celebrate on Canada Day.
- Maple & Thistle, the barrel-aged beer, is packed with flavour and aromas of toffee, vanilla, oak, citrus, smoky maple and orange oil; and is available exclusively from the Innis & Gunn online shop and in the Innis & Gunn Beer Kitchens.
- Canada was the first international market for Innis & Gunn, when it began exporting its beers outside of the UK just two years after the business was founded in Edinburgh by Master Brewer, Dougal Gunn Sharp. Quickly growing a loyal fan base of beer drinkers attracted by the rich flavour in its signature Original beer aged in whisky casks, Canada is now Innis & Gunn’s biggest export market, where six million bottles were sold in 2016, contributing almost a quarter to the total annual sales globally.

In addition to the limited-edition Maple & Thistle beer, to mark the occasion of Canada Day on Saturday 1st July, all Innis & Gunn Beer Kitchens are offering all Canadian nationals and their friends a 15% discount on their food bill.
The Innis & Gunn Beer Kitchens in Edinburgh and Glasgow have also been selected as two of only 150 bars in the UK to participate in The Official 150 Canada Birthday Celebrations organised by the Canadian High Commission. Maple & Thistle will be available exclusively on draught, and the bars have lined up some special Canadian themed treats to bring the party to Scotland. Entry to the parties is free.
Canada Day discount is only available for food ordered on Saturday 1st July for those with valid proof of citizenship, Driving licence or Passport at The Innis & Gunn Beer Kitchens in Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews and Dundee.
