Island Records launches Jamaica Porter their new “Island Sundowner” – Launching 13th September 2016

From the Dream Team who brought Island Records Session IPA to life comes the second instalment in their range of craft beers

Island Records and Two Tribes Brewing have created yet another first-class craft beer through their on-going partnership with brewer and music lover Robin Pearson (SoundWaves Brewing).

The Jamaica Porter is the second release from the Island Records growing stable of beautifully crafted beer.  It cements their position as a producer of exceptionally well-made beer that delivers on their long-term plan to firmly establish the collaboration as one to watch in the craft beer world.

The Jamaica Porter still contains those signature tropical flavours in line with the Island Records legacy. These deep flavours, coming through from an infusion of coconut, vanilla and rum, rather than the Session’s citrus blend, create a delicious porter that has more of a kick than its counterpart and comes in at a solid 6.2% ABV.

Their first collaboration resulted in the beautifully well-balanced Island Records Session IPA – a can of ‘liquid sunshine’ that was designed to be enjoyed with friends throughout the day and into the early evening. The new Jamaica Porter, is a complement and contrast to the Session IPA and has a wicked and delightful night-time focus. The Jamaica Porter represents “all-night beach parties, heavy beats in the background and lit by the moon in a cloudless sky”, says creator Robin Pearson.

Island Records has taken the same approach to their beer that they have always taken when it comes to signing new artists  – that of great partnerships between the talent (SoundWaves) and the Artist and Repertoire vision of the storied label.

“It was always our goal to create a unique line-up of quality craft beers that embody the idea of great music, great beer and great vibes, working together in harmony. Robin (SoundWaves) and Two Tribes have created a fantastic second release with the “Jamaica Porter” to follow up our first hit “Session IPA” and together with Boutique Bar Brands we are all committed to making Island Records a serious player in the Craft Beer market Glenn Cooper, Strategic Marketing Director – Island Records

Drinkers will once again be able to “Shazam the can” to listen to Island Records’ new playlist of reggae tunes, as always, perfectly paired to the beer. Users simply need to open the app and tap the camera to access this unique experience.

This innovative partnership with Spotify and Shazam once again bridges the gap between music and beer, creating a mood which further resonates those classic Island Records vibes.

About Two Tribes Brewing:

Two Tribes is a visionary brewery which, using the knowledge and experience of founders Justin & Niki Deighton, looks to create bespoke beers with an interesting story for various brands, while ensuring that the quality of taste is a priority. Two tribes is a creative hub bringing like-minded people together through the brewing process.

Justin & Niki Deighton Biography:

Having previously founded boutique packaging and promotions house ThinkTank Media, they sold the business in 2012 and took a gap year to travel and explore with their family. Travelling re-ignited their passion for the F & B industry and on returning to the UK, set up a brewery. Using their experience in branding and marketing they saw the similarities between the early underground music scene of the late 80’s /90’s and the explosion of craft brewing movement. They set out to follow their ethos of: Taste Design – Creative Brewing – Brand Collaboration.

Robin Pearson biography

Robin Pearson started home-brewing from his converted shed in Hove to fulfil his passion for craft beers. After playing around with new styles from the US, he introduced his bright & tropical Session IPA to a member of the Island Records team and it was an instant hit. Working closely with Island Records and Two Tribes, Robin took his recipe from homebrew to commercial beer brand and created his own brewing company, Soundwaves Brewing LTD, to develop and launch exciting new craft beers. Robin is continuing to working on new recipes for the Island Records range that will “transport us to a new scene, with new musical influences, somewhere on that tropical island…”
