IT’S NATIONAL LAGER DAY ON 10TH DECEMBER WEST BERKSHIRE BREWERY IS GIVING IT AWAY FOR FREE TO CELEBRATE

You’ve got 24 hours…

National Lager Day (the lesser known but equally important little brother to National Beer Day) is taking place on 10th December, and in these hard times, we should grab on to any excuse to celebrate.

With this in mind, the lager loving lads and lasses at West Berkshire Brewery have generously decided to give away their award-winning Renegade lager. What’s the catch? There is none. They will be giving away four cans of their 100% British lager to the first 100 people that sign up before midnight on December 10th. How’s that for festive cheer?  Find out how to claim below.

Brewed using 100% British ingredients, this pilsner-style lager is crisp, clean and utterly refreshing. Head brewer, Will Twomey, has offered his top tips for enjoying it on this most joyous of days.

How to drink lager like a pro:

  • Characteristically lagers are typically clearer, cleaner and crisper tasting than ales and are meant to be drunk at a colder temperature
  • You should serve at around 33–45 °F (1–7 °C)
  • Drink pale varieties from a tall, stemmed Pilsner glass
  • Pair with lightly charred BBQ fish, subtly spiced chicken or sushi
  • Placing a can of lager inside a chicken (beer butt chicken) before placing on the BBQ is a great way to get super tasty, succulent chicken as the beer steam cooks the inside of the meat

Fun Facts about Lager:

  • While ales have been around for centuries, lagers are a more recent development, taking off when the German state of Bavaria became a hotbed of lager brewing in the 16th century
  • Two brewers of the era, Gabriel Sedlmayr of Spaten Brewery in Munich, Germany and his pal Anton Dreher of Austria, are widely credited with inventing the stuff
  • The word lager comes from the German lagern (‘to store”). That’s because making a lager can take twice as long as making beer
  • Lagers go through a process of ‘lagering’ (yes this is a real word) – spending up to six weeks in the cold
  • Cenosillicaphobia is the fear of an empty glass. We have it

How to claim your free lager:

  • Simply email nationallagerday@redlionpr.com with your full name and address.
  • The first 100 people to enter will win four cans of West Berkshire Brewery’s award-winning Renegade Lager.
  • Each email address is valid for one entry.
  • Competitions are open to anyone aged 18 or over based in the UK.
  • Please allow up to 28 days for delivery of prizes from the date of the competition closing.
