This year press will be asked to enter the festival via the Pillar Hall entrance (see map).

Please make sure to fill out your press accreditation in advance to ensure a smooth check in at the door by visiting https://gbbf.org.uk/tickets/press/

2-3 pm: Rugby competition kicks off with ex-rugby player Tom May

Location: VIP Zone

Ex-rugby union player Tom May and Pro14 player Greg Bateman (People’s Captain) will be joined by representatives from the beer industry to discuss the relationship between rugby and beer. The Q&A will kick off a week-long competition at the festival which will give visitors the chance to win £3,000 worth of sports travel vouchers which can be used towards any rugby travel packages including the Six Nations and official travel packages to Rugby World Cup France 2023 – complete with hotels, flights, transfers, and inclusions. Provided through MSG Tours, visitors simply need to look out for the unique GBBF codes scattered across the festival floor and enter the competition here: https://gbbf.org.uk/luckydraw/

4-4:30 pm: Winners of CAMRA’s homebrew competition are announced

Location: Stage

New to this year is the launch of the very first CAMRA homebrew competition, which will see entries from across 11 different CAMRA approved beer styles, alongside a special category for homebrewers to try their hand at the ‘Thank Brew’ recipe developed by Fergus Fitzgerald of Adnams to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, which CAMRA has supported as part of its Summer of Pub campaign.

Head to the centre stage to discover the brewers of tomorrow with the announcement of the gold, silver, and bronze winners. Representatives from Thank Brew and Adnams will be announcing the winner of the ‘Thank Brew’ category and share an update on money raised and pints poured over the Jubilee Weekend. To find out more visit: https://gbbf.org.uk/homebrew-competition/

Please note that the Champion Beer of Britain announcement will not take place this year. This is due to COVID-19 restrictions which saw the closure of most beer festivals last year, where we usually run the regional Champion Beer of Britain judging sessions. The competition will resume as usual in 2023.

All Day: Discovery Bar Tasting Programme

Location: Discovery Bar

12-5 pm – Unlock hidden flavours in malts and hops with Brett Ellis of Wild Beer Co

6-9 pm – Discover session and traditional craft cider in kegs and why your local should have them on the bar with Gabe Cook and the Real Al Co

Find out more here: https://gbbf.org.uk/whats-on/discovery-bar/

We look forward to seeing you at this year’s festival!

Cheers,

The CAMRA Press Team
