On Thursday 9th November, renowned Clapham craft beer pub The King & Co will welcome Peckham-based Brick Brewery for the next event in their popular Tap Takeover series. Running from 7pm onwards, the evening will highlight a host of cask and keg brews, ranging from their well-known Peckham Pale Ale and Red Brick Rye, to their vibrant Lime & Watermelon Sour and Mottainai collaboration beer with London’s first Sake brewery Kanpai. There will be free samples and special beer flight offers, plus the opportunity to talk to the brewers about their diverse beers inspired by their travels around the world.
The King & Co will also host a new residency by Lion City Kitchen this November, bringing the comforting authentic flavours of Singaporean hawker streetfood and home-cooked cuisine to South London. Launching on Monday 30th October and running daily until Sunday 26th November, the latest kitchen takeover at the much-loved independent free-house will showcase founder Sofia’s unique food inspired by her grandma’s cooking, Singaporean street snacks and years of culinary-led travel.
Visitors to Lion City Kitchen’s month-long residency will be able to tuck into an array of small ideal for sharing, including signature favourites from their successful South London supperclubs like Singapore chilli crab dip with fried mantou bun, plus shiitake and wood ear mushroom wontons. The pub popup menu will also feature exciting new dishes such as chicken heart skewers with peanut sauce, and roasted bone marrow, spicy broth and sourdough toast. Large plates including braised soy sauce pork belly, and ayam masak merah (whole chicken leg cooked in a tomato honey sauce) will also be available to enjoy with steamed jasmine rice and turmeric pickled daikon.
Following the brilliant response to The King & Co’s recent third birthday Bingo Night, the team will now repeat this entertaining games session on the second Sunday of every month. Starting on Sunday 12th November at 7pm, beloved quizmaster extraordinaire Tommy McTrivia will compère the bingo rounds, with spot prizes up for grabs throughout as well as cash money to be won at the end of the evening.
