Liverpool’s Neptune Brewery to Release Nightingale Saison

Neptune Brewery announces the release of Nightingale: a 5% saison brewed with Ladies that Beer to celebrate International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day.

Liverpool-based Neptune Brewery has collaborated with Ladies That Beer, a social group of female beer lovers and educators, to brew a one-off collaboration beer for International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD).

Hosted each year on the 8th of March to coincide with International Women’s Day, International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day began in 2014 to raise awareness of women working in the beer industry.  Each year’s brew takes on a different theme and for 2020 it was ‘tribute.’

As 2020 is the Year of the Nurse and Midwife and the 200th Birthday of Florence Nightingale, who happened to help create District Nursing in Liverpool, Neptune and Ladies that Beer decided to call their beer Nightingale as a tribute.

Julie O’Grady, Co-owner of Neptune Brewery & Founder of Ladies That Beer commented, “As a woman in the beer industry myself, the International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day is a special day for me, because it’s a chance for all those ‘ladies that beer’ to come together as a community around our shared passion for beer. We decided to brew a saison as it’s a very easy-drinking style that many people can enjoy. Plus, it’s perfect for spring and summer.”

Nightingale is a fresh and crisp golden saison with light melon notes, hints of clove and breadiness on the finish. It pairs perfectly with shellfish, curries, fish and creamy, rich cheese.

Nightingale will be available in keg and cask from Neptune Brewery directly as of 15 April 2020. It will also be available in Keykeg via Eebria.

For every keg sold, Neptune Brewery will donate £15 to the Tussell Trust to support them in their mission to provide emergency food for those in need.
